Just Host Web Hosting Help

Your domain will expire in less than 7 days

If you attempt to transfer your domain name within 7 days before it expires you will see the following message: "Your domain will expire in less than 7 days." If you domain name is expiring soon Just Host recommends renewing your domain names with the current registrar, waiting 45 days, then transferring the domain name. However, we can allow you to transfer the domain name, if you understand the risks involved and would still like to proceed.

Our system blocks domain transfers from being initiated if the domain is scheduled to expire within 7 days of expiring or if it has already expired. This is intended to protect you from potential risks, as well as fees set by the losing registrar. If your domain has already expired or will expire within 7 days, we strongly recommend that you renew the domain at the current registrar and then wait for at least 45 days before initiating the transfer of the domain.

Domain transfers can take 7 to 10 days to complete, and if it is initiated but not completed prior to the domain's expiration, the normal expiration grace period may be bypassed and the domain might go into redemption. Also, if the domain has already expired and the the transfer does not complete before the grace period is over, it will go into redemption. Once in redemption, the domain can only be reactivated through the current registrar and is no longer eligible for transfer.

We can allow the transfer of the expired domain, however, you assume all risks and responsibility for any fees that are charged (late fees, redemption, domain restoration, etc.) as well as any associated downtime. If you have questions about your current registrar's policies regarding this matter, please contact them directly, as each registrar is different.

If you wish to request a domain transfer for your domain that has expired or will expire soon, and accept all of the risks, please contact support, reference this article, and confirm that you understand the risks and still wish to proceed with the transfer.
